Norway Model United Nations

NORMUN is short for Norway Model United Nations. NORMUN is the annual Model United Nations Conference held at Blindern Videregående Skole. Blindern Videregående Skole is the oldest International Baccalaureate school in all of Norway. Hence 'Norway Model United Nations' being created. NORMUN has a long-lasting tradition of participating at conferences both domestically and internationally.

With students of all different backgrounds, we in NORMUN prioritise representation and dedication. It is important for us that NORMUN performs as a political arena that gives all students the opportunity to grow, develop and take part in discussions regarding their political interests. We wish to create fruitful debates and encourage youth engagement amongst all students from around the world.

Shifting Alliances: Conflict, Power, and Humanitarian Consequences

In our modern, fast-paced, globalised world alliances are constantly shifting as conflicts arise and priorities change. Tensions and wars escalate, causing the strength of global institutions to be questioned, making the world more multipolar and unpredictable. Now more than ever the effects of these shifts can determine the course of the future, determine who benefits and who suffers.

When conflicts become more interconnected, their consequences can be felt on a larger scale, and power stops being just about armies, but also about technology and influence. The role of democracy and human rights is at stake as corruption and instability emerge, making diplomacy crucial in bringing countries together, bridging divisions, and upholding international law.

All the global challenges we face are inherited by us, the new generations of policymakers, activists and diplomats, and we carry the responsibility of fighting for humanitarian needs and setting the tone for the following generation.

The goal of NORMUN 2026 is to spread global awareness on important world issues, and start the debates that will inspire future decision making. As alliances shift, so does the world, encouraging us to shift with it, and it is up to us to decide what we do in the wake of these shifts.
